WHAT IS PROSTATIT?

Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate. There are acute and chronic types. In the acute type, complaints such as fever, bleeding in the urine, burning in the urine, pain in the rectum are seen. Treatment is intravenous antibiotic therapy. It should be treated inpatient. 10 days of treatment is required.

When chronic prostatitis is mentioned, the condition that the prostatitis lasts for more than 3 months comes to mind. In this case, there are two types of prostatitis. The first of these is chronic bacterial prostatitis. If bacteria are detected in the prostate fluid, it takes this name. Urinary burning, urinary strain, burning when ejaculating, burning at the tip of the penis, burning in the urinary canal, burning and pain in the anus in the groin, erection problems, premature ejaculation, groin pain, low back pain, sometimes pain in the thigh region. Conditions such as weakness have been reported. Chronic bacterial prostatitis is treated with antibiotics. However, limited response is obtained to antibiotics. These cases may respond to injection therapy.

Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis describes the situation where there is no bacterial growth in the prostate fluid. The reason is not known exactly. Many theories have been proposed (microbiological theory, neurological theory, autoimmune theory, etc.) complaints are the same as chronic bacterial prostatitis. In addition to antibiotics, many drugs such as alpha-blockers, finasteride, anti-inflammatories, allopurinol, quercetin, cernilton are used in the treatment, but limited response is obtained. In these cases, we get successful results with prostate injection.

HOW IS PROSTATIT DIAGNOSED?

The diagnosis of prostatitis is made according to the result of the examination made from the sample taken from the fluid coming from the penis after prostate massage. If bacteria are found, it is called chronic bacterial prostatitis, if only leukocytes are found, it is called chronic nonbacterial inflammatory prostatitis, and if there is no leukocyte, it is called nonbacterial non-inflammatory prostatitis. Their treatments are different. WHAT IS PROSTATE INJECTION?

It is a treatment developed and still being applied in Italy. The rationale of the treatment is that oral antibiotics do not pass into the prostate at a sufficient level, so when the prostate is given directly, they reach 3000 times more density and reach sufficient efficacy. Indeed, many patients who did not improve with oral therapy did improve with this therapy.

HOW IS PROSTATE INJECTION DONE?

It is a painless procedure that takes 10 minutes. The patient is placed on the gynecological table. The crotch area, which we call the perineum, between the testis and the anus is wiped. Local anesthesia is applied to that area. Then an rectal ultrasound is performed and the prostate is imaged. Infected foci and calcified areas are observed in the prostate, where antibiotics are administered.

After waiting for a while, the antibiotic cocktail we prepared according to the results of the analysis is injected into the prostate with a very thin needle without pain. The same procedure is applied to the other lobe of the prostate. The needle is removed and it is checked that there is no bleeding. A gentle prostate massage is then given. The purpose of this is to ensure that the drug we give to the prostate is distributed in the prostate. After the region is deleted, the process is terminated.

HOW IS THE PROSTATE INJECTION PROCESS?

We examine our patient who comes first. If we suspect that it is prostatitis, we send the prostate fluid and urine we receive after prostate massage to culture and PCR examination and have it examined. Results come after a week. We categorize the prostatitis syndrome according to the result. We start to inject the cocktail we have prepared according to the result. Injections are usually made in 6 to 8 units. We do one injection per week. It is forbidden to use alcohol during injections. Coffee, hot spicy foods should be minimized. It is forbidden to empty for 4 days after the injection.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF PROSTATE INJECTION?

The most common side effect is bleeding from the semen. It is temporary and heals spontaneously without causing any permanent damage. It does not cause any harm to the prostate, urinary tract, nerves, masculinity. On the contrary, it is beneficial for sexuality.
